News in August 2022 A lot has happened since the association was founded in June 2019. Above all, two major bad events have demanded completely new tasks from our association - the global pandemic since March 2020 and the national economic crisis in Sri Lanka since the beginning of 2022. Fortunately, our statutes are formulated in such a way that we were able to provide help spontaneously. The pandemic has left many villagers unemployed and the economic crisis has created inflation on a huge scale. The association has the principle of never working with monetary donations but only with donations in kind and support such as job creation. As early as 2019, during the flooding, I became active with feeding - we had brought food packages with rafts to the families who could no longer provide for themselves. We continued this help in a targeted manner. Our local manager, Sampath Chamara, knows all needy families with children and elderly individuals. According to the need, many helpers packed packages and handed them over to the grateful people - this has happened again and again since the association's activities began. Another help is job creation. It has proven to be extremely helpful to use the unemployed as helpers in ongoing projects. We have come so far with the children's and youth center that it can be inaugurated at the beginning of October 2022. Tables and benches are currently being made. Then we can also resume the very important English lessons. We had to hire him for two reasons. The English teacher had a baby and the schools were locked down again and again for long periods. From October two learning groups will be formed: beginners and advanced. The country is far from returning to any form of “normal”. The pandemic is not over yet and the supply crisis is mainly a problem of staple foods becoming more and more expensive, bottlenecks in the delivery of petrol, resulting in transport difficulties and not enough gas for cooking. We will not stop using the donations to provide help in the village of Jamburegoda. We have to set priorities, but we don't lose sight of the other goals. Times will not always be dramatic. August 25, 2022 is already our 3rd annual general meeting. On behalf of the villagers, the association would like to thank all donors - without these donations, no activities would be possible.
